70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. Black cherries, flowers, chocolate and a touch of vanilla in the nose. Full and chubby character, lots of ripe fruit and notions of cocoa and cedar wood. The finish is soft but with an enviable length.
- climate
-
Maritime climate because of the Atlantic Ocean. The warm Gulf Stream and Gironde act as heat regulators and temper the climate. This causes mild winters, hot summers, and a long, sunny autumn. The forests of the Landes provide protection against the cold sea wind.
- soil
-
Different terroirs with mainly gravel soils that are more sandy in depth. Merlot is on clay/limestone soil.
- vinification
-
Vinification takes place in temperature controlled stainless steel drums. Malolactic fermentation on barrel is next in the process. The different grapes and lots are ripened separately on 50 to 60% new oak for 18 months. The blend is only made afterwards. This is the same system used in Haut-Brion.
