More information about 'Les Jamelles'
The founders and driving forces behind the winery are Laurent and Catherine Delaunay. Their background and roots are in Burgundy. After gaining valuable experience in regions such as California, they were among the first to recognize the immense potential of a region like Languedoc.
In the early 1990s, they sought to respond to the then immensely popular and affordable “New World” wines. Instead of focusing on quantity, they dedicated themselves fully to producing wines of exceptional quality.
For each grape variety, they carefully selected the ideal soil, and yields were strictly limited to enhance quality. By combining different terroirs with extensive modernization, they succeeded in achieving optimal balance and a flavorful character in their wines.
Les Jamelles was, and remains, their flagship, but over time they have expanded with several other ranges. For instance, Beau Chêne offers two simple yet incredibly delicious blends, and Les Grands Arbres is counted among the first ecologically produced wines in France—long before this became a contemporary trend.
Today, Les Jamelles is a household name in the Languedoc and serves as a reassuring symbol of continuity and high-quality wines.

The vineyards of Les Jamelles
The climate
The climate plays a crucial role in the flavor development of Les Jamelles wines. From the cooler northern areas near Nîmes to the warm plains around Béziers, each microclimate in the Languedoc-Roussillon region contributes to the unique characteristics of the grapes. This diversity allows Catherine and Laurent to produce wines with a wide range of flavors and aromas that reflect the rich terroir of the Languedoc.
The terroir
The soil forms the foundation for the unique flavors and aromas of Les Jamelles wines. From the limestone soils in northern Nîmes to the clay-rich soils in the eastern Aude valley, each type of soil contributes to the complexity and character of the grapes. This variety in soil allows Catherine and Laurent to craft wines with a rich texture and a pronounced sense of terroir, perfectly reflecting the diversity of the Languedoc.
Winemaking in Roussillon & Languedoc
For over 25 years, Les Jamelles has been a symbol of excellence in the French wine world. Founded by Catherine and Laurent Delaunay, this dynamic duo has transformed their passion for wine into an award-winning range of wines that reflect the diversity and richness of the Languedoc. The key to Les Jamelles’ success lies in the variety of terroirs from which their wines originate. Across the vast vineyards of Languedoc-Roussillon, Catherine and Laurent have identified the most unique microclimates and soil
In the northern part of Nîmes, where the climate is cooler and the soils are complex, the grapes used for Les Jamelles wines thrive with a depth and structure characteristic of this region. On the plains near Béziers, where the soils are rich and fertile, wines are produced that burst with lush fruit and vibrant flavors. In the eastern Aude valley near Carcassonne, elegant and well-structured wines are found, while on the western side of the Aude, the wines possess a distinctive character shaped by the unique combination of soil and climate.
The dedication of Catherine and Laurent to preserving these diverse terroirs is evident in their state-of-the-art winery in the Corbières region. Here, the grapes are handled with the utmost care and vinified using cutting-edge equipment and techniques that maintain the unique character of each vineyard.
The result is a range of Les Jamelles wines that not only embody the richness and diversity of the Languedoc, but also the passion and dedication of Catherine, Laurent, and their team. With every sip, you taste the story of this remarkable region and the people who bring it to life—a story that Les Jamelles proudly continues to tell, year after year.
